Your objective is to get to HQ level 2 as quickly as possible. You start with 3 claims (4 if you're Expansive), and get that many claims when you get to HQ level 2. No doubt you have surmised that the early game is very critical.

The carbon from the stack should allow you to level up with the mined aluminum: then complete your building industry and diversify. Place your base on a big carbon stack - Then built an aluminum mine and try to make money with food or fuel. If there is more than you thought, nuke it away. It seems like something is missing from the map? Go expansive and place your base directly on the rare material and get the other ones. Silicon "touching" Iron and some water close: Also scientific, but the other way around: building materials first, then life support: with scientific, both of them are 3 claims each, so it depends on the map. (Personally I often go into Glass, Fuel and Chemicals after this) You can sell the fuel (and a lot of everything else, too) to upgrade: then place a steel mill, a glass furnace and an aluminum mine on spots with the corresponding resources. If you have enough water to survive long enough, go for electricity, food, o² and fuel. Then diversify (With robotics, I see myself selling food often)Ī cluster of water: Place a scientific base either next to it or onto of it.
#OFFWORLD TRADING COMPANY STRATEGY UPGRADE#
Upgrade as fast as possible and go for electronics and electricity in phase 2 & 3. Then I look out for certain scenarios, which depend on the map:Ī cluster of aluminium and iron nearby: Place a robotic base on the Aluminum (get the Bonus, which will last either one or two upgrades) and start manufacturing steel (1 mine + 2 mills). Help? Anything general to give me a better chance at success, please?įor my part (I am really not an expert! Totally open to improvements from better players!), pseudo-randomly scan the map. I never seem to invest in what's profitable - and thus I'll either have a ton of debt and get bought out, or no money and stuck at level 3 while everyone else is level 5 with an Offworld Market. I guess it's hard to pin what gets me each game, but it's always something. Also, having to pay exorbitant prices for glass seems to get me too.

Half the time power goes way, way high and my extreme debt creates a low stock price that allows me to get purchased easily. I can't survive past the early game stage, I'm usually one of the first companies purchased by other players.Īn aluminum mine, an iron mine, and a steel mill is somewhat standard for me if I have both alum/iron closeby and I'm playing Expansionist. What are your guys' general strategies? I understand that every map is different, and you want to react to other players, but what are some basic "builds" that can be followed?įor example, in almost every game I get reamed in one resource or another.
